2014 Hyundai Sonata Review and Walk-Around

The Sonata was ranked "Most Dependable Midsize Car" in the J.D. Power 2013 Vehicle Dependability Study. Since the 2013 Sonata was already amazing the 2014 Sonata didn't reinvent the wheel but it did make some pretty notable improvements.

Safety:
Safety is a huge factor when picking a car and with the addition of the blind spot detection system your mind is put at ease. The Sonata is packed with six airbags to help keep you protected from multiple angles. The Vehicle Stability Management system is there to give you more control in those time when you need it. The Brake Assist helps you stop faster in times of trouble, even if you didn't hit the brake hard enough your car knows what you meant and breaks hard for you. Sounds like a car that is jam-packed full of safety goodness.

Performance:
The 2014 Sonata 2.0T gets 274 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 32 MPG Highway. What kind of steering wheel control do you want? The Driver Selectable Steering Mode comes standard on ever Sonata. You can select from three modes: Normal, Comfort or Sport by simply touching a button on the steering wheel.

Technology:
The Sonata’s available navigation system makes it a breeze to get where you need to go. You can use voice recognition to use your navigation without being distracted from driving. An available 8-inch color touchscreen audio system with rear view camera offers enhanced audio quality and rear visibility. Since we can't live with out our music, the built-in iPod/USB and auxiliary input jacks let you access your iPod through the audio controls, display track and artist information, even charge it as it plays. Homelink lets you turn on your lights at home and open your garage door. Bluetooth allows you to keep your hands on the wheel while making phone calls. Bluelink can help you find the best route home, tell you when you are going over a certain speed, and alerts you if your car has left a certain radius. The technology available on this car will blow you away.

Features:
There are a few additional features that must be mentioned. The Sonata Limited has an amazing power panoramic sunroof that must be seen, tube LED taillights, every seat in the car can be heated, and the drivers seat is also ventilated for those hot summer days.

Winter Vehicle Check-Up

Winter is fast approaching. Before is gets here take a look at 5 things that need attention in your car. Once your car is in order you will be able to take on this winter season.

Battery:
Cold weather is tough on batteries. It is good to get your battery condition checked before it starts to get too cold. Have your battery tested and charged if necessary to make sure you don't find yourself in a cold situation with a dead battery.
Antifreeze:
Check your antifreeze, its what keeps your engine from freezing. You want to use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze, which can be tricky to do. We can check this for you or you can buy a tester at an auto shop.

Brakes:
Having your brake system checked is critical before driving on snowy or icy roads. Good working brakes will be the difference between your car making it in once piece or ending in a tree.

Tires:
Tire pressure drops as the temperature drops. That means in the winter you should be checking  your tire pressure weekly. Tire tread is even more critical as the roads become icy. You don't want to find yourself sliding into something or someone.

Windshield Wipers & Fluid:
Wiper blades are only meant to last a year.  Can you remember the last time you had yours changed? Make sure they are in good condition as your windshield starts to freeze and snow starts to fall. Salt and dirt on the road love to stick to your windshield and when driving on snow or ice its even more crucial that you can see clearly. Top off your windshield wiper fluid because if you run out in bad weather you're stuck blind in your car.

Don't have time? Our service department will check all these things for free if you bring in this months coupon. If you have any questions call our service department at  940-243-6233 or ask us on Facebook.

#HyundaiFuelCellFarm

Today is the start of something new. Something the world has never seen before. The Hyundai Fuel Cell Farm. What is it exactly? First we need to take a step back.

Running cars off of fuel cell technology has been an ongoing idea for many years. Recently we have seen this idea become a reality. What is a fuel cell? A fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen. Hyundai has developed a car, the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell, that uses a fuel cell to convert hydrogen into energy. This is huge since hydrogen is the most common fuel constituting 75% of the universe's mass. This means that there would never be a shortage of fuel. After creating this energy to run the car it then emits water vapor rather than the carbon monoxide produced by gas powered engines.

The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell gets 133 HP, has a top speed of 99 mph and 0 to 62 mph in 12.5 seconds, and has an operating range of 369 miles. Hyundai has plans to manufacture 1,000 vehicles by 2015 then 10,000 following soon after. This is a huge step towards an affordable solution to gas powered engines.

Back to the Hyundai Fuel Cell Farm. The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is taking the water vapor it emits and is condensing it into water to filter into a fish tank. Then the aquaponics technology will harness minerals from the fish waste to grow vegetables on the farm. This project will be unveiled in London today, Monday October 21st. We drive using plant fuel but cars making fuel for people, that's a first.
